ABOUT ME
Chris SMITH
I'm a Personal Trainer and Advanced Instructor. I'm a member of the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) as a Senior Activity and Health Practitioner.

I got into health and fitness in 1998 at the age of 45. I was overweight, always tired and frightened of the illness risks associated with obesity, poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle. I started to eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly. It was amazing how quickly I lost over three stone in weight, my energy levels soared and I felt fantastic. A friend suggested that there must be a call for older personal trainers / fitness instructors. It was at this stage that I decided that I would like to train to become a fitness instructor and help others achieve what I had.
I qualified as a fitness instructor in 2002 and have since gone on to do courses and qualify in: personal training and advanced instruction, GP referral, torso and core stability training, boxercise, boxercise personal training, functional exercise for older adults, nutrition for physical activity and weight management and instructing outdoor fitness. I’m proud to be a member of the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) as a Senior Activity and Health Practitioner. This is your assurance of my knowledge and that I regularly attend courses to keep up to date with the latest research.

I started my first seniors exercise class in Bishop's Waltham in 2014. After trialling different formats I perfected it to what it is today. The format I use allows me to cater for all levels of ability and fitness regardless of age. It proved to be so popular I've since gone on to open classes in Alresford, Horton Heath and Chandlers Ford. I knew I could help people to achieve better health, fitness and quality of life but, what I didn't realise would happen is how social it would all become with new friendships being regularly made.
